Trois-Rivières Lions forward Kyle Havlena is heading overseas to Germany to join Lausitzer Fuchse in the DEL2. The Kirkland, Quebec native had a slow start for the Lions, as he failed to record a point in all seven regular-season games he played. Havlena would make the Kelly Cup roster and would be an important piece during their Kelly Cup Playoff run. In 21 Kelly Cup Playoff games, he would score two goals and add an assist for three points. His first career goal would be the game winner in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals vs the Florida Everblades. Havlena becomes the second player from the Lions to take the overseas route after Alex Beaucage headed to Finland yesterday. He is the third former Lion to join Lusitzer Fuchse, joining Eric Hjorth and Alex D’Auost.
Prior to going pro, Kyle Havlena spent time in the QMJHL and USports. During his five years in the QMJHL, he saw time with the Blainville-Boisriand Armada, Cape Brenton Screaming Eagles, and Gatineau Olympiques. He would wear an “A” in each of his two seasons with the Cape Brenton Screaming Eagles. The 25-year-old defenseman would put up seven goals and 45 assists for 52 points in 199 career games. Halvena would then head to USports to spend four seasons with Concordia University. In 96 games, scoring nine goals and recording 23 assists for 32 points. He was named to the OUA East Second All-Star Team in 2023. Halvena was part of the 2025 Concordia team that won the OUA Championship and went on to win a USports University Cup Silver Medal.
