ECHL: Lars Rodne Heads Overseas

Wheeling Nailers forward Lars Rodne is heading overseas to Norway to join the Stavanger Oilers. This will be Rodne’s third stint with the Oilers, as he’s put up five goals and an assist for six points in 34 games. His two previous stints came during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. He also spent time with their U18, U20, and U21 Teams. Rodne also represented his country three straight years in the World Junior Classic D1A division. Norway picked up silver during the 2020 Tournament.

Lars Rodne, 24, began his North American career in the NAHL with the Bismarck Bobcats. During his two years with the Bobcats, he put up 36 goals and 27 assists for 63 points in 82 games. Rodge was tied for second in goals (20) during his first week with the Bobcats. The Norwegian forward would then spend his collegiate career at Niagara University. Over his four years with the Purple Eagles, he put up 29 goals and 30 assists for 59 points in 131 games.

In six games during the 2024-25 season in the ECHL with the Adirondack Thunder and Wheeling Nailers, Rodne had two goals and an assist for three points. Rodne scored in his first ECHL game and then in his first game with the Nailers. He became the first Norwegian-born player to score a goal for the Wheeling Nailers. He would also play in two games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Rodne had at least one shot on goal in every ECHL game before his last ECHL game on Friday, April 18th, 2025.
