The Jacksonville Icemen announced today that they have re-signed veteran forward Liam Coughlin for the 2025–26 season. Coughlin brings size, experience, and a strong two-way game back to Jacksonville after a productive campaign in 2024–25.

Back in Blue and White

Coughlin, 30, racked up 31 points (15G, 16A) in 50 games with the Icemen last season, showcasing his physical style and veteran awareness up front. He also appeared in the postseason, reinforcing his value as a trusted contributor in critical moments. He also wore an “A” as an alternate captain, reflecting the leadership and experience he brings to the locker room.

By re-signing him, the Icemen inject consistency and experience into their offensive core as they gear up for another push in the South Division.

Veteran of the ECHL Circuit

Since turning pro in 2019, Coughlin has amassed 116 points (46G, 70A) across 233 ECHL games, suiting up for the Icemen, Iowa Heartlanders, Worcester Railers, and Indy Fuel. Known for his responsible play and ability to chip in offensively, Coughlin has earned a reputation as a dependable middle-six forward with leadership qualities.

His professional journey also includes eight AHL games, played across four teams: the Rockford IceHogs, Bridgeport Islanders, Springfield Thunderbirds, and Providence Bruins.

Built from the NCAA Up

Before turning pro, Coughlin played four collegiate seasons at the University of Vermont, where he tallied 56 points (18G, 38A). From 2016 to 2019, he shared the ice with current longtime Icemen forward Derek Lodermeier, laying the foundation for a chemistry that continues at the professional level (Jacksonville Icemen, 2025).

Coughlin was originally selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the fifth round (#130 overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, adding draft pedigree to his well-rounded resume.

Looking Ahead

With his blend of size, experience, and familiarity with the locker room, Coughlin is expected to play a key role for the Icemen in 2025–26. Whether contributing on the scoresheet or grinding out tough shifts, the South Boston native brings the kind of depth and leadership that teams rely on down the stretch.

Liam Coughlin and the Jacksonville Icemen will kick off their 2025–26 campaign on the road as they take on the Greensboro Gargoyles in their ECHL debut. The game is set for Saturday, October 18th at First Horizon Coliseum, with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 PM EDT. It’s the start of a fresh season—and the Icemen will be looking to spoil Greensboro’s home opener with a statement win.
