The Greenville Swamp Rabbits have added a proven playmaker to their roster, signing forward Liam Finlay for the 2025–26 season. Known for his speed, creativity, and scoring touch, Finlay brings both domestic and international experience to Greenville.

A Productive Pro Career

Finlay, 28, returns to the ECHL after spending last season overseas with the Glasgow Clan in the EIHL. He appeared in 53 games for Glasgow in 2024–25, recording 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points, before adding two playoff appearances.

Prior to his time in the UK, Finlay played two seasons with the Allen Americans. In 2022–23, he delivered a standout year in Allen, finishing with 70 points (33G, 37A) in 54 games. That season ranked among the top offensive performances in the league and cemented Finlay as one of the ECHL’s most dynamic forwards. He followed up with 19 points (11G, 8A) in 26 games for Allen in 2023–24 before heading overseas.

Finlay has also logged professional games in Finland’s Mestis league, Slovakia, Sweden’s Allsvenskan, and Germany’s DEL2, giving him a well-rounded international resume.

Collegiate Success at Denver

Before turning pro, Finlay spent four seasons at the University of Denver, where he played 156 NCAA games and totaled 98 points. His best season came in 2018–19, when he posted 16 goals and 20 assists for 36 points in 41 games. He followed that with a strong 2019–20 campaign, adding five goals and 23 assists for 28 points in 36 games. Finlay was also part of Denver’s 2017 NCAA National Championship team, contributing consistently throughout his college career as a reliable offensive presence.

Reflecting on his journey to Greenville, Finlay shared his excitement for this next chapter. “I’m really looking forward to getting back to the ECHL and joining a group like Greenville,” he said in the team’s release. “I take pride in being a guy who can make plays and help the team create offense. I’m ready to get to work.” (Greenville Swamp Rabbits, 2025)

Looking Ahead to 2025-26

Finlay’s signing adds another offensive weapon to Greenville’s lineup, and fans won’t have to wait long to see him in action. The Swamp Rabbits will kick off the 2025–26 season on Friday, October 17, hosting the Utah Grizzlies at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
