The Trois-Rivieres Lions will have Luke Cavallin back for Game 2 of the North Division Finals. Cavalin was called up to the Laval Rocket last Sunday. The 24-year-old goaltender went 4-0 with a 1.59 GAA, and .945SV% during the opening round vs Reading Royals. The British goaltender is coming off his best season in the league as he went 19-10-2 with a 2.13 GAA, .929SV%, and three shutouts. He would lead the league in SV%.
Luke Cavallin, 24, is in his fourth year in the ECHL. He’s posted a 58-25-6 record with a 2.51 GAA, .921SV%, and seven shutouts with the Trois-Rivieres Lions and Newfoundland Growlers. He’s also seen action in 12 AHL games with the Toronto Marlies and Laval Rocket. During that time, he’s put up a 4-5-2 record with a 2.89 GAA and .887SV%.
Who Starts Game 2 For The Lions?
The choice between the pipes for Ron Choules, may be harder than he thought after Hunter Jones pitched a 27-save shutout in Game 1 of the North Division Finals. Luke Cavallin had an impressive first-round series vs Reading, allowing two goals or less during the Lions first-round sweep. I would expect Cavallin to get the start for that reason, along with the fact that he hasn’t played since April 23rd. I expect the Lions to have more faith in Jones and possibly start him in Game 4. Games 3 and 4 are back-to-back in Norfolk. We knew coming into this series that Norfolk had two great goaltenders, and now the Lions have matched that.
