Austin Magera is coming back to the Lowcountry!
Before going pro, Magera spent five seasons with Sacred Heart University. With the Pioneers, he tallied 116 points over 154 games. During his final season, he posted 28 points and +6, both of which were his career bests. Finishing off his college career on a high, he signed with the Stingrays in March after the season had finished and got to work. He made his first appearance against now Kelly Cup Champions, the Florida Everblades, who South Carolina would eventually meet in the offseason. He would score his first professional goal shortly after joining the club, putting the Stingrays in the lead in the third period against the Jacksonville Icemen.
While only dressing in 22 games, the 6’1” center was still able to post 14 points for the club and stepped up when the team was plagued with injuries before the postseason.
Magera grew up in the South, originating from Suwanee, Georgia, and played hockey there until 2015, when he would head to Lawrence Academy in Massachusetts. He also spent time in the USHL with Chicago Steel and Lincoln Stars.
Magera is rejoining teammates Jackson Leppard and Chase Stewart for the 2023-24 season, who agreed to terms last month.
