The Maine Mariners have announced that they’ve signed goaltender Dante Giannuzzi to a contract for the 2024-25 season. Giannuzzi, 22, is entering his second year in the ECHL after putting up a 13-16 record with a 3.63 GAA, .891SV%, and one shutout in 31 games last year with the Utah Grizzlies. He would also make one appearance with the Colorado Eagles at the AHL level, giving up one goal on four shots in under eight minutes of relief in a game against the Ontario Reign.
I would expect Giannuzzi to split time as the backup goaltender along with Nolan Maier, who will likely spend time with Maine after signing an AHL deal with the Providence Bruins. He becomes the second goalie signed to an ECHL deal with Maine joining Brad Arvanitis, who re-signed earlier this Summer. This signing brings the Mariners 2024-25 roster up to 20.
“I’m super excited to be a Mariner,” said Giannuzzi. “I’ve heard nothing but great things about the organization, coaches, and team, as well as the city. I can’t wait to get things going in a few weeks and show everyone what I can do.”

Prior to going pro, the Winnipeg, Manitoba native spent parts of five seasons in the WHL with the Portland Winterhawks, putting up a 59-32-10 record, 3.07 GAA, .896SV%, and three shutouts in 109 games. He would win a bronze medal at the 2018 WHL Cup with the Winterhawks.
