Tryout and Trade
The Maine Mariners are bringing Austin Master to camp on a PTO. Master spent last season with the Reading Royals, where he put up two goals and seven assists for nine points in 43 games. The 26-year-old forward spent his collegiate career at Stevenson University, where he put up 30 goals and 57 assists for 87 points in 74 games. He would be named Rookie of the Year in 2020, where he put up 13 goals and 18 assists for 31 points in 27 games. Austin is the younger brother of Nick Master, who spent parts of four seasons with the Mariners, putting up 33 goals and 73 assists for 106 points in 134 games. Nick is currently playing in Denmark.
Maine would also announce a trade as they’ve sent the ECHL rights of Ty Cheveldayoff to the Jacksonville Icemen in exchange for future considerations. Cheveldayoff signed an AHL deal with the Rochester Americans back in July. The 21-year-old forward played in just two games with the Mariners at the end of last season, picking up a goal in the regular season finale and would add an assist while playing in all seven games of the opening round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Prior to joining the Mariners, the Stony Plain, Alberta native spent four seasons in the WHL with the Spokane Chiefs, where he put up 43 goals and 56 assists for 99 points in 194 games.
