On April 20th, the Maine Mariners had two players called up to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. The first of these is forward Owen Pederson. He’s currently signed to a two-way, two-year contract with Providence. Pederson has played 54 games with the Mariners so far this season, putting up 13 goals and 12 assists for 25 points; this now marks Pederson making both his AHL and ECHL debuts in his first season pro.
The other Mariner who was sent up to Providence is forward Wyllum Deveaux, who was signed with the Mariners as a free agent and is on loan to Providence. In his 46 games with the Mariners this season, he’s scored 13 goals and had 11 assists for a total of 24 points. This is following the Mariners’ first playoff game on Friday, where the Mariners defeated the Adirondack Thunder in a 2-1 victory. Deveaux had the game-winning goal for the Maine, which was unassisted. This is the first AHL call-up for both players, and both appeared in their first AHL game on the 20th against the Bridgeport Islanders. Providence is still finishing out their regular season, and their last game before playoffs is April 21st. Deveaux had his first fight in his first AHL game. He’s been released from his PTO by Providence and will be back with the Mariners for Sunday’s game, while Pederson still remains with the Providence Bruins. The Mariners play game two versus the Thunder today, the 21st, in Glens, Falls, NY.
