ECHL: Maine Mariners Re-Sign Bennett Stockdale

The Maine Mariners have announced that they have re-signed forward Bennett Stockdale for the 2024-25 season. The 25-year-old forward was another late-season signing by the Mariners as he signed with the club after finishing his fourth season at SUNY-Plattsburgh. In 13 games with the Mariners, he would put up three goals and seven assists for 10 points; Stockdale would play in six Kelly Cup Playoff Games with the Mariners but would fail to find the scoresheet. For the Mariners, this is a solid signing, as Stockdale finished the regular season putting up seven points in the team’s final six games. Heading into next season, I would expect Stockdale to be a guy who can slot in anywhere on the Mariner’s top three lines.

Prior to going pro, the Kanata, Ontario, native spent four seasons at the NCAA level, spending a year at the University of Alabama-Huntsville before spending three years at SUNY-Plattsburgh. In 94 games at the NCAA level, Stockdale put up 50 goals and 43 assists for 93 points and was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament team in 2023 and 2024.

“I’m looking forward to experiencing the entire process this season,” said Stockdale. “Seeing it all the way through from the start to the end of the season and growing as a player and as a team, that’s what I’m looking forward to the most. Being able to take everything in and start from day one.”

Stockdale is the ninth signing for the Mainers and the fifth forward for the 2024-25 season.
