ECHL: Maine Mariners Re-Sign Brad Arvanitis

The Maine Mariners are the first team this off-season to announce a goalie signing as they’ve re-signed Brad Arvanitis for the 2023-24 season and his second with the Mariners. Arvanitis will be entering his fourth year in the league as he’s spent time with the Rapid City Rush, Tulsa Oilers, Wichita Thunder, and Maine Mariners. In 44 games, he’s put up a 23-14-4 record with a 2.77 GAA, .919SV%, and one shutout.

“The city, the fans, the organization as a whole really allowed me to develop and become a better person and goalie,” said Arvanitis. “That’s why I wanted to come back and try to do it again and obviously do better than what we did last year.”

In 35 games last season with Maine, the 26-year-old goaltender went 20-10-3 with a 2.71 GAA and one shutout. He would play a big part for the Mariners in the opening round of the Kelly Cup Finals, taking the top-seeded Adirondack Thunder to seven games; Arvanitis went 3-3 with a 1.69 GAA and  939SV% in his first season of Kelly Cup Playoff experience. This is a solid signing for the Mariners, as Arvanitis was easily the team’s best goaltender last season in his first full season in the ECHL. He would win Rookie of the Month in January and would be named the Mariners Rookie of The Year. There’s no question that with the departure of Kyle Keyser to Russia, Arvanitis will play a big role for the Mariners in between the pipes for Maine next season.
