ECHL: Maine Mariners Re-Sign Xander Lamppa and Alex DiPaolo

The Maine Mariners announced on Thursday the re-signing of forwards Xander Lamppa and Alex DiPaolo as the team continues shaping its roster for the 2025-26 ECHL season.

Xander Lamppa

Lamppa returns after completing his first full professional season in 2024-25. Originally signed by the Mariners in March 2024, Lamppa played in 65 games last season, recording 31 points (11 goals, 20 assists).

In juniors, Lamppa developed in the junior ranks with the NAHL’s Austin Bruins and the USHL’s Waterloo Black Hawks.

He would play in the NCAA at Penn State and developed into a reliable two-way center for the Nittany Lions. Known for his work ethic and steady presence, Lamppa became a key contributor both on and off the ice throughout his time in Happy Valley. During his senior season, Lamppa was named an assistant captain, reflecting the leadership role he had earned within the program. He appeared in 125 career games.

Alex DiPaolo

Before heading to college, DiPaolo played three seasons in the British Columbia Hockey League for the Coquitlam Express, Penticton Vees, and Victoria Grizzlies. DiPaolo then took the NCAA route, spending four years at Colgate University. During his time at Colgate, DiPaolo was a key contributor for Colgate during his senior season, finishing second in team scoring with 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) over 32 games. Across four seasons with the Raiders, he totaled 88 points in 129 games, reaching the 20-point mark in each of his final three years.

DiPaolo joined the Mariners in March 2025 after wrapping up his NCAA career at Colgate University. In 10 appearances with Maine last season, he registered four assists as he continues the search for his first pro goal.
