The Maine Mariners have had two more roster moves amidst their playoff run against the Adirondack Thunder. Forward Owen Pederson returned to Maine after a short call-up to the Providence Bruins. Pederson’s move took place on April 22nd, following the Mariners first two playoff games. He’s played 54 games with the Mariners this season, and he’s had 13 goals and 12 assists in this time. The Mariners play games three through five of the first round this weekend, and although Pederson is now back, defenseman Ryan Mast has been moved to the Providence Bruins. Mast has played 47 games with the Mariners this year, where he’s had five goals and 11 assists. This is the first year playing in the ECHL for both players. Pederson previously played in the WHL, and Mast previously played in the OHL. Mast was drafted by the Boston Bruins in 2021, where he was picked #181 overall in the sixth round. The Providence Bruins will be playing in the Calder Cup playoffs, which almost ensures continual roster moves between the teams.
Despite the Mariners getting Pederson back, they would lose Ryan Mast to the Providence Bruins. Mast has spent seven games with P-Bruins failing to find the scoresheet; in 47 games with Maine, he’s put up five goals and 11 assists for 16 points. The 21-year-old defenseman spent his four years in the OHL with Sarnia Sting prior to going pro. The Mariners and Adirondack Thunder play in Portland this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as they continue their playoff battle against one another.
