The Maine Mariners have announced that they have signed defenseman Dalton Gally to a PTO. Gally played in 11 games last season with the Allen Americans. Maine had originally announced that they were bringing seven players to training camp; however, Renat Dadadzhanov had not originally reported, and it is unknown if he has yet to report to the team. This is likely an insurance move for the Mariners, who would only have had six defensemen on the roster without Dadadzhanov. It gives them another player with ECHL experience on their blueline. I would expect Gally to see the ice in at least one of the Mariner’s pre-season games this weekend vs Worcester Railers.
The 6’6, 229lb blueliner is entering his fifth season in the league. He’s played with the Norfolk Admirals, Florida Everblades, Kansas City Mavericks, and Allen Americans, where he’s had 11 assists in 81 career games. Prior to going pro, the McKinney, Texas native spent four years in the WHL with the Medicine Hat Tigers, where he had three goals and 28 assists for 31 points in 194 games and would add three assists in six playoff games. Gally would play 14 games with the Admirals during the 2019-20 season before deciding to go back to school as he would spend parts of two seasons playing for McGill University, where he would up five assists in 18 games and played in three playoff games before making his return to the ECHL at the end of the 2021-22 season.
