The Maine Mariners have announced that they have signed forward Jacob Hudson for the 2024-25 season. In 13 games at the end of last season with the South Carolina Stingrays, he put up six goals and three assists for nine points in 13 games after finishing his collegiate career at St. Francis Xavier University. He would notch his first career hat-trick in just his fourth career game and would have five goals in his first five ECHL games. During his three years with the X-Men, he put up 37 goals and 51 assists for 88 points in 74 games. The 23-year-old forward would spend parts of five seasons in the QMJHL with the Moncton Wildcats, putting up 43 goals and 65 assists for 108 points in 218 games. He would wear an “A” for two seasons before becoming the team’s captain in his last season in Moncton.
This is a strong signing for the Mariners, who are obviously in the market for goal-scorers after Alex Kile ended up signing with the Florida Everblades after putting up 37 goals last season with the Mariners, along with Chase Zieky and Gabriel Chicoine going overseas, leaving Maine without three of their top five goal scorers from last year. The 23-year-old winger has the ability to either play on the wing or down the middle, which will give Terrence Wallin some options on where to put Hudson in his lineup. The Nova Scotia native is the sixth player and fourth forward signed by the Mariners for the 2024-25 season.
