The Maine Mariners have announced that they have signed rookie defenseman Renat Dadadzhanov to an ECHL contract for the 2024-25 season. Dadhadzhanov joins the Mariners after spending last season in the SPHL with the Peoria Rivermen, where he put up two goals and two assists for four points in 34 games during the regular season and would add another two assists in seven games during the playoffs as the Rivermen would go to win the President’s Cup. He becomes the seventh defenseman and 22nd player to sign with the Mariners for the 2024-25 season. I expect the 6’3,216lb defenseman to be a depth piece on the Mariners blueline.
“I’m excited to be on the ocean and by the water,” said Dadadzhanov, who grew up on the east coast of Russia. “[Maine] seems like a very beautiful spot. I’m just excited to meet my new teammates and get to work.”

Prior to playing in the SPHL, Dadadzhanov spent three years in the QMJHL and two years in the QJHL. In 110 games at the QMJHL level with the Shawinigan Cataractes and Val-d’Or Foreurs, he scored one goal and added 17 assists for 18 points. In the QJHL, he scored nine goals and added 43 assists for 52 points in 72 games with the Saint-Jerome Panthers. He would lead the Panthers in goals (6) during the 2020-21 season. Dadadzhanov took two years off from hockey before joining the Rivermen last season.
