
Forward Mark Cheremeta is heading back home to Belarus to join Dinamo-Molodenchno after just one professional season in North America. Cheremeta, 26, had four goals and three assists for seven points in 27 games last season. He began the season with the Kalamazoo Wings and was traded twice during the season, first to the Orlando Solar Bears and then finishing the year with the Worcester Railers. Cheremeta is the sixth Railer to take the overseas route.
Path To The ECHL
The Belarus native had an interesting path to the ECHL that began during the 2018-19 season. He would spend a year with the Terriers, where he had three assists in 29 games. Cheremeta would spend the following season in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints. He would put up 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points in 48 games. Cheremeta returned to the NCAA, where he spent the next three seasons with the Buckeyes. During those three seasons, he put up 10 goals and 22 assists for 32 points in 66 games. He would spend his last year of eligibility at Sacred Heart University putting up a goal and 10 assists for 11 points in 17 games.
Cheremeta also played three games with the Muskegon Lumberjacks during the 2016-17 season, where he had a goal. In his final season, before heading to the NCAA, he spent 50 games in the NCDC with the Islanders Hockey Club. He put up 18 goals and 41 assists for 59 points in 50 games. In seven playoff games, he had two goals and three assists for five points as they captured the NCDC Championship.
