Bloomington Bison Goaltender Mark Sinclair is heading overseas to Finland to join HPK in Liiga. The 28-year-old goaltender had played in 21 games with the Bison this season, putting up a 10-6-2 record with a 2.13 GAA, 9.29 SV%, and one shutout. He has played in four games in the AHL with the Belleville Senators, putting up a 1-1-1 record with a 3.05 GAA and .875SV%. This is a huge loss for the Bison, who are tied for second in the league with number of goaltenders used this season (5). It will be interesting to see where the Bison go from here after Hugo Ollas was re-assigned to the Worcester Railers earlier this year; it wouldn’t be a shock to see him back in Bloomington now that the net is a little less crowded.
The Hamilton, Ontario, native has spent the last four seasons at the ECHL putting up a 39-30-5 record with a 2.97 GAA, .914SV%, and five shutouts while spending time with the Cincinnati Cyclones, Allen Americans, and Bloomington Bison. Sinclair also saw action in six career Kelly Cup Playoff games. He’s also appeared in six AHL games with the Senators, where he’s put up a 1-2-2 record with a 2.35 GAA, .917SV%, and one shutout. Prior to going pro, Sinclair spent five seasons at the NCAA level, spending three years at the University of Alabama-Huntsville before spending his last two seasons of eligibility at Michigan Tech. He would win back-to-back GOJHL Championships with the Hamilton Red Wings during his junior days.
