The Adirondack Thunder made a splash on Wednesday afternoon as they announced the signing of forward Matt Salhany for the 2025-26 season. In 43 games last season with Marseille (Ligue Magnus), he put up 17 goals and 21 assists for 38 points. He would add two goals and an assist for three points in six playoff games. This is a massive signing for Adirondack as they pick up a true goal-scorer and a key piece to the Thunder’s top line heading into next season. Salhany is the 10th forward and 13th player signed to a contract with the Thunder for the 2025-26 season.
Salhany, 32, has spent the last five seasons overseas, including four in Denmark before playing in France last season. He spent two seasons with Sønderjyske, where he had 20 goals and 17 assists for 37 points in 47 games. Salhany would add seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 16 playoff games. In 2022, he had one goal in six games as Sønderjyske won the Danish Championship. In his two years with the Aalborg Pirates, he had 24 goals and 24 assists for 48 points in 58 games. He would add eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 30 playoff games.
“I knew that when I left North America to play overseas that someday I would return and put on the Thunder sweater again,” said Salhany. “After many conversations with Jeff, Sylvain, and Ben, I am confident that the organization is in the right hands and that we all share the same goal of getting the Thunder back to the top echelon of the league. I am so excited to return to Glens Falls and to get the barn rocking again in the fall. I’m looking forward to reuniting with you all very soon!”
