ECHL: Matthew Boucher Heads Overseas

Forward Matthew Boucher is heading overseas after spending the first four years of his pro career in North America in the ECHL and AHL. Boucher would play in 72 AHL games over the course of three seasons, putting up eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points, with 67 of those games coming with the Belleville Senators, where he put up eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points, he would also play in five games with the Colorado Eagles but would be unable to find the scoresheet. In 104 games at the ECHL level, the 26-year-old winger would put up 56 goals and 54 assists for 110 points while playing with the Utah Grizzlies, Iowa Heartlanders, and Trois-Rivieres Lions. He would win the Rookie of the Year Award in 2021, where he put up 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points in 59 games with the Grizzlies. The Los Angeles, California native would add a goal and an assist in three games during the 2021 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Boucher recently had his ECHL rights traded to the Fort Wayne Komets.

Prior to going pro, Boucher spent parts of five seasons in the QMJHL, where he would put up 96 goals and 96 assists for 192 points in 241 games with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada, Drummondville Voltigeurs, and Quebec Remparts. Boucher would then spend two seasons at the University of New Brunswick, where he put up 31 goals and 29 assists for 60 points in 57 games and would win a University Cup Championship with the Reds in 2019, as well as being named to the USports All-Rookie team as he put up 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 games that season, he would add three assists in three games during the University Cup.
