ECHL: Matthew Quercia Re-Signs With Wheeling Nailers

The Wheeling Nailers have announced that they’ve re-signed forward Matthew Quercia for the 2025-26 season. In 68 games last season, he put up 20 goals and 13 assists for 33 points along with 188 PIMs. His 20 goals and 188 PIMS are both career-highs. He would be the Fans Choice Player of the Year for Wheeling. Quercia led the league in minor penalties (44), second in major penalties (10), and third in PIMS (188). He had two assists and 20PIMs in five games during the 2025 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Andover, MA, native has 34 goals and 39 assists for 73 points in 151 games with the Nailers over the course of his four seasons in the league. He has three goals and nine assists for 12 points in 22 career Kelly Cup Playoff games. Quercia will look to once again bring his experience and physical presence to the Nailers lineup next season.

Prior to going pro, Matthew Quercia spent two seasons in the USHL with the Sioux Falls Stampede. He would put up 10 goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 96 games. He also played in three USHL playoff games. Once his time in USHL was over, Quercia would spend four years playing NCAA hockey. He spent his first three years at Boston University, where he put up nine goals and nine assists for 18 points in 81 games. He spent his final year of eligibility at Michigan Tech, where he put up two goals and two assists for four points in 14 games.
