Wednesday, January 24th, brought a typically heated matchup to Kansas City when the Mavericks faced off against the Allen Americans. Justin Nachbaur of the Kansas City Mavericks is facing a one-game suspension, as well as a fine of an undisclosed amount, after instigating a fight with Allen’s Johnny Walker. After review by the Department of Player Safety, they determined that Walker was an unwilling combatant in the scrum when a punch from Nachbaur connected. Nachbauer has six goals and five assists for 11 points, along with 45 PIMS this season in 24 games. Prior to joining the Mavericks, the 23-year-old winger had played for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, where he spent two seasons putting up 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points in 64 games. He spent six games with the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL at the end of the 2021-22 season.

This suspension will put Nachbaur out against Kansas City’s next match against Allen on Friday but should be activated against Allen for their third and final game in the series.
