ECHL Names 2023-24 Leading Scorer of the Year

The ECHL announced that Brandon Hawkins from the Toledo Walleye secured the league’s scoring title for this season. Hawksins has earned 93 points in 70 games (40g-53a) and was recognized for his outstanding performance by earning a spot on the All-ECHL First Team after leading in multiple categories. On Friday, April 5th, he set a new milestone during a 5-3 win against the Heartlanders by scoring a power-play goal, claiming the single-season goal-scoring record with 40 goals and the single-season power-play goals record at 15.

Moreover, Hawkins excelled by leading in power-play points with an impressive total of 34 and 346 shots on goal. In February, he was honored as the ECHL Player of the Week for his outstanding performance from February 12 to February 18, scoring four goals and one assist during Toledo’s two-game road weekend. His sixth regular-season hat trick as a professional player paved the path for Toledo’s 6-4 victory over Cincinnati. Additionally, he contributed an assist in the game, marking his first four-point game of the season.

More recently, on April 13th, Hawkins played in his 300th professional hockey game.

The Toledo Walleye will kick off Round One of the Kelly Cup playoffs this Friday (04.19.24) and Saturday (04.20.24) at the Huntington Center, facing off against the Kalamazoo Wings.
