ECHL Names Co-Recipients of the AMI Graphics Plus Performer of the Year

The ECHL recently announced that Max Andreev, a forward for the Kansas City Mavericks, and Grant Gabriele, a defenseman for the Toledo Walleye, have been jointly honored with the 2023-24 AMI Graphics Plus Performer of the Year award for their impressive season performances, each boasting a noteworthy plus-minus rating of +34. Additionally, four players achieved the third position with an impressive +30 rating, including Wade Murphy from Idaho, Jacob Hayhurst, Ryan Jones, and Jake McLaughlin from Kansas City.

Andreev is the first player in franchise history to receive this honor. Noteworthy achievements for Andreev include maintaining an even or positive rating in 53 out of his 63 games and earning a well-deserved place in the ECHL All-Rookie Team. He finished his rookie campaign with 19 goals and 54 assists for 73 points, good for third among all ECHL rookies. His 54 assists led all ECHL first-year players and put him in the top five league-wide. Leading all ECHL rookies and securing the fourth position league-wide, and his 73 points placed him third among rookie players and tenth overall. He also broke the Mavericks ECHL record for assists in a season (54).

Grant Gabriele excelled with an equal or higher rating in 36 of his 40 games, with a contribution of 15 points (1 goal and 14 assists). Furthermore, he gained valuable experience, having played five games in the American Hockey League, representing both Hartford and Rochester.

The Kansas City Mavericks are set to take on the Tulsa Oilers in the Mountain Division Semifinals in Game One on April 17th.

The Toledo Walleye will face the Kalamazoo Wings in Game One of the Central Division Semifinals on April 19th.
