ECHL: Nathaël Roy Signs with Toledo Walleye

The Toledo Walleye continue to build out their 2025–26 roster with the signing of forward Nathaël Roy, a high-energy winger with scoring touch and collegiate experience.

From Quebec to the Glass City

A native of St-Rédempteur, Quebec, Roy brings a blend of skill and work ethic to the Walleye lineup. At 6’1″ and 185 pounds, he shoots left and plays right wing, a combination that has helped him produce at nearly every level he’s played.

Last season with the University of Moncton, Roy recorded six goals and 17 assists for 23 points in 30 regular season games. He followed that up with an impressive playoff stretch, posting four goals and two assists in 7 postseason contests.

A Steady Climb Through U SPORTS

Roy spent four full seasons with Moncton, totaling 93 points (46G, 47A) across 109 U SPORTS games. His most productive campaign came in 2021–22, when he tallied 27 points in 24 games, adding another 5 in the playoffs. Throughout his collegiate career, Roy displayed consistency, vision, and a knack for showing up in big moments.

QMJHL Pedigree

Before college, Roy logged four years in the QMJHL, skating for the Sherbrooke Phoenix and Baie-Comeau Drakkar. In 173 regular season games, he registered 89 points (42G, 47A) and added playoff experience with both clubs. He also posted a standout junior year in 2019–20 with Sherbrooke, scoring 21 goals in 62 games.

What He Brings to Toledo

Roy enters his first professional season with a versatile skill set and a track record of offensive production. He’s a mature, two-way forward who can contribute on the scoresheet and make life difficult for defenders with his tenacity and skating.

Toledo fans can expect Roy to bring a high compete level and offensive upside as he adjusts to the pace of the ECHL game. The Walleye open the 2025–26 season on Saturday, October 18, on the road against the Indy Fuel. Puck drops at 7:00 PM EDT at the Fishers Event Center.
