St. John’s, NL: The Newfoundland Growlers have made some roster moves with the Toronto Marlies earlier today, ahead of their game tonight against the Reading Royals.
Luke Cavallin
Goaltender Luke Cavallin was sent from the Marlies to the Growlers after making two starts for the Marlies. In the two starts, Cavallin allowed 6 goals on 61 shots against with a 1-0-1 record. Joseph Woll joined the Marlies on a conditioning stint this morning, so Cavallin wouldn’t have received playing time if he wasn’t sent down. Cavallin has a .917 save percentage this season with the Growlers.
Grant Cruikshank
Grant Cruikshank was also sent down to the Growlers after being with the Marlies. Grant has only played four games with the Marlies this season but has a goal and an assist in that time. With the Growlers, Cruikshank has 37 points in 31 games and is back on the top line for the Growlers game today.
Brock Caufield
Brock Caufield was called up to the Marlies after 25 points with the Growlers in his 49 games played this season. We have yet to see information on whether Caufield will make his AHL debut for the Marlies or not. Brock is the brother of Montreal Canadiens’ sniper Cole Caufield, and while Brock may not have the ceiling of his brother Cole, he will look to write his own path through his hockey career.
The Newfoundland Growlers have a 22-20-7-2 record so far this season and currently sit in 3rd place in their division. With the top 4 teams in each division making the making the playoffs, the Growlers do sit in a playoff spot, but they can’t let off the gas in the second half of the season here should they want to earn a playoff spot.
