The Florida Everblades are bringing back one of the league’s most recognizable enforcers, signing forward Nico Blachman for the 2025–26 ECHL season. The 27-year-old Aventura, Florida, native stands 6’2”, weighs 198 pounds, and brings an edge to every shift, capable of playing both right wing and center.

Blachman is no stranger to Southwest Florida, having suited up briefly for the Everblades in both the 2020–21 and 2021–22 seasons. This year marks his third stint with the club, and fans can expect the same brand of high-energy, physical hockey that has made him a fan favorite wherever he’s played.

A Journeyman With Grit

In 2024–25, Blachman split the season between the ECHL’s Iowa Heartlanders and a three-game loan to the AHL’s Iowa Wild. He posted 10 points (5G, 5A) and racked up 221 penalty minutes in 45 games for Iowa, cementing his role as a physical presence who doesn’t shy away from defending his teammates. His career has taken him across the ECHL with stops in Kalamazoo, Adirondack, Allen, Savannah, Norfolk, South Carolina, and Huntsville in the SPHL, as well as short stints in the LNAH and Canadian junior leagues.

In 206 career ECHL games, Blachman has recorded 18 goals, 20 assists, and 1,093 penalty minutes, embodying the physical, team-first style that has defined his career.

Leadership Through Physical Play

While Blachman’s offensive numbers have never been the centerpiece of his game, his impact comes in other ways—changing momentum with a hit, a fight, or an energy shift that lifts his bench. His ability to stand up for teammates, draw the opposition’s attention, and create space for skill players fits perfectly into Florida’s blue-collar identity.

Ready to Make an Impact

For the Everblades, the addition of Blachman adds another layer of toughness to a roster already looking to challenge for another deep playoff run. His mix of grit, size, and experience makes him a difficult matchup for opponents, particularly in high-intensity games.

Florida opens its season on the road in October when they travel to Orlando to take on the Solar Bears. Blachman’s presence ensures the Everblades will have no shortage of bite when the puck drops.
