
Trois-Rivières Lions forward Nicolas Guay is heading back overseas after finishing the 2024-25 season with the Lions. He will be joining the Belfast Giants in the EIHL. Guay, 26, began last season in Slovakia, putting up two goals and three assists in five games with HC Nove Zamky. He would rejoin the Lions in November and played in 59 games while putting up 13 goals and 24 assists for 37 points. Guay would add five goals and eight assists for 13 points in 21 games during the Kelly Cup Finals. He is the second Lion to head overseas in the last 24 hours, after Justin Ducharme went to the Fife Flyers.
Prior to going overseas, Guay spent his first three professional seasons in North America. He would begin his career in the AHL with the Abbotsford Canucks where he played in 16 games. The Châteauguay, Quebec native would spend the next two seasons with Trois-Rivières, where he put up 23 goals and 47 assists for 70 points in 108 games before heading to Slovakia. He would add two goals and two assists for four points in six games during the 2024 Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Nicolas Guay QMJHL and USports Career
Prior to going pro, Guay played in the QMJHL and in USports. In five seasons in the QMJHL, he would put up 109 goals and 131 assists for 240 points in 266 games while playing with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, Drummondville Voltigeurs, Saint John’s Sea Dogs, and Rimouski Océanic. He would add seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 31 QMJHL playoff games. Guay would spend one season in USports with the University of New Brunswick before going pro. In 18 games with the Reds, he would put up 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points.
