ECHL: Norfolk Admirals Make Multiple Transactions | 02/23/2024

The Norfolk Admirals have made a plethora of moves prior to hosting the South Carolina Stingrays on Friday and Saturday Night. Norfolk has placed Thomas Caron (Upper-Body) and Brady Fleurent (Finger) on IR. Fleurent has been a welcome addition to the Admirals and was on a roll prior to getting hurt, as he had put up eight points in his last ten games with four goals and four assists over that time. The Maine native has bounced between the SPHL and ECHL this season, playing 23 games with the Knoxville Ice Bears, where he’s put up 13 goals and six assists for 19 points. The 29-year-old forward has spent time with the Atlanta Gladiators and Norfolk Admirals this season, putting up seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 23 games this season. Fleurent has 20 goals and 33 assists for 53 points in 123 career ECHL games as he’s spent time with the Atlanta Gladiators, South Carolina Stingrays, Wheeling Nailers, Wichita Thunder, and Rapid City Rush. Caron, on an AHL deal with the Manitoba Moose, has put up five goals and 11 assists for 16 points in 35 games in Norfolk while adding two goals in eight games with the Moose. Caron has spent parts of the last three seasons with the Moose, putting up five goals and five assists for 10 points in 55 games; the Quebec Native played 17 games with the Trois-Rivieres Lions last season, putting up three goals and four assists for seven points.

Norfolk did get some good news as forward Sean Montgomery will rejoin the Admirals lineup after missing the last five games for the Admirals. Montgomery joined the team in late January, putting up two goals in seven games with Norfolk. Prior to joining the team, Montgomery played in Belgium with the Liege Bulldogs, where he had 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points. The Admirals have also signed Kristian Stead, but he is still ineligible to play as he served two of the five games that he was suspended for earlier this month. Stead has a career 7-5-2 record with a 3.21 GAA, .921 SV%, and one shutout over the course of his three-year ECHL career as he’s spent time with the South Carolina Stingrays, Cincinnati Cyclones, Tulsa Oilers, and Norfolk Admirals.
