On Sunday afternoon, the Norfolk Admirals and Worcester Railers completed their three-game series for the week at Norfolk Scope. After splitting the first two contests this week, game three was sure to be a good one and it was. The Admirals would come away with the 4-2 win.

The Railers opened the scoring at 13:31 when Jack Randl notched his second goal of the season. A 2-on-1 shorthanded break between Cole Donhauser skate with the puck into the zone and dish a pass to Randl who threw a laser of a shot on net to beat Joe Cannata to the glove side. Just 36 seconds later, the Admirals tied the game with a powerplay goal. Carson Golder ripped a shot top shelf over the glove hand of Henrik Tikkanen. The period ended very scrappy as there were 33 penalty minutes between the two clubs, including a five-minute major and a game misconduct for Stepan Timofeyev. Admirals held an 11-8 shot advantage through 20 minutes of play.

The seconds period was a much calmer game in terms of penalties as the Admirals had the only two penalties of the period. Despite having just seven shot in the period, the Admirals managed to put two goals past Tikkanen. Sean Montgomery opened the scoring at 7:49 with assists to Carson Musser and Graham Sward to take a 2-1 lead. At 11:23, the Admirals extended their lead as Connor Fedorek buried home a rebound off a great effort in front of the net by Brandon Osmundson and Ryan Chyzowski to allow Fedorek to get the goal. At 13:30, the Nailers brought the game back to within one as Connor Welsh tallied his third goal of the season.

The Railers did not have enough to stem a comeback as Brady Fleurent won a foot race to the puck in the Railers’ zone to put the game to bed with an empty-net goal with just eight seconds to go in the game. The Admirals held a 27-21 shot advantage through the game. Both clubs scored once on the powerplay as the Admirals were 1 for 5 and the Railers went 1 for 3.
