The Norfolk Admirals and Trois-Rivieres Lions met on Sunday Afternoon in Game 2 of the North Division Finals. Trois-Rivieres would make a change in net, going to Luke Cavallin over Hunter Jones after Jones pitched a 27-save shutout in Game 1. In Game 1, the theme was goaltending, and that’s exactly how this game started off, with Cavallin and Thomas Milic making incredible saves early on. Trois-Rivieres would open up the scoring late in the first as Morgan Adams-Moisan put home a rebound on the third Lions PP of the period at 18:14. The Lions would take two penalties late in the period, giving the Admirals a golden chance to get back in the game. Bryce Brodzinski fed Hank Crone for a one-timer for Crone’s first of the Kelly Cup Playoffs at 19:43, and then 11 seconds later, Justin Young fed Ryan Chyzowski on a one-timer for his third of the playoffs as the Admirals took a 2-1 lead into the locker room.

In the second, special teams continued to be the theme of the game as Brodzinski scored the fourth PP goal as he cleaned up a rebound in front to regain the Admirals two-goal lead. Norfolk would start to run away with the game as Chyzowski fed Brandon Osmundson in front to make it a 4-1 game. Tensions started to boil over as the horn sounded on the second period as 24 PIMs would be handed out. For TR, it would go from bad to worse. Adams-Moisan would pick up a minor, and Jakov Novak would pick up a ten-minute misconduct. However, the Lions headed to third with an abbreviated five-on-three PP.

The Lions would take advantage as Logan Nijhoff fed Anthony Beuaregard for his second of the playoffs. Trois-Rivieres picked up the first five-on-five goal as Tyler Hylland fired a shot from the circle that beat Milic. The Lions would pull Cavallin with just over 2:30 minutes to go to try and get the tying goal. Chyzowski took a high-sticking penalty with 23 seconds left, giving the Lions a six-on-four. A game-saving block from the captain, Carson Musser, would seal the game and tie the series up at one.

Thomas Milic would make 24 saves in the win, and Luke Cavallin made 23 saves in the loss. The series will shift to Norfolk for the next three games, beginning with a back-to-back on Thursday and Friday Night.
