The Trois-Rivieres Lions are heading to the North Division Finals after beating the Reading Royals 5-2 in Game 4 of the North Division Semifinals on Wednesday Night. Once again, it would be an early goal for the Lions to get momentum early. Anthony Beauregard fed Xavier Cormier on the PP to get Trois-Rivieres on the board first. Reading quickly responded as Mason Primeau would find the back of the net just after the first of two penalties on the Lions ended. The Lions would find the scoresheet again before the period ended as Xavier Cormier fed the captain, Morgan Adams-Moisan, for his first of the Kelly Cup Playoffs. All three goals in the first period came within the first 10 minutes. Trois-Rivieres would lead 2-1, and outshoot the Royals 13-6 in the opening 20.

Reading down by two, looking to save their season, needed something to get themselves back into the game. The Royals would get an early PP, but they couldn’t score and would gain some momentum. For the second straight game, Shane Sellar found the back of the net for a tip-in that beat Cavallin. Reading would get another chance on the PP but couldn’t convert. The Royals would outshoot the Lions 12-7 in the second, as the game was tied after 40.

In the third, Keith Petruzzelli would do everything he could to keep the game tied, making some strong saves. Trois-Rivieres would finally break through as Xavier Cormier set up Vincent Sevigny for a one-timer to give the Lions a 3-2 lead. Reading, desperate for the tying goal, would pull Petruzzeli with a little over two minutes to go. It wouldn’t work as Nicolas Guay and Logan Nijohff added empty net goals. Luke Cavallin continued his strong play, making 24 saves in the win. Trois-Rivieres will now await the winner of the Norfolk-Wheeling series, as the Admirals currently hold a 3-0 stranglehold.
