ECHL: Oliver Cooper Signs with Florida, Adds Size and Grit Up Front

The Florida Everblades have signed 30-year-old forward Oliver Cooper for the 2025–26 season. A 6’3”, 205-pound center from Fredericton, New Brunswick, Cooper brings a physical presence and a proven winning track record to the Everblades’ forward group.

ECHL Familiarity and European Experience

Cooper returns to the ECHL with a wealth of professional experience. Most recently, he spent the 2024–25 season in the ICEHL with Pioneers Vorarlberg, where he recorded 19 points (4G, 15A) in 48 games. Prior to that, he skated in the EIHL with the Belfast Giants, contributing 20 points in 38 regular-season contests.

Before heading overseas, Cooper made his mark in the ECHL with the Fort Wayne Komets. During the 2022–23 season, he tallied 47 points (22G, 25A) in 58 games while also earning a call-up to the AHL’s Chicago Wolves for eight appearances. Over the course of three seasons with Fort Wayne, he totaled 88 points in 127 regular-season games and added nine points in 22 playoff contests, while logging over 250 penalty minutes. His combination of scoring ability and physical edge made him a key part of Fort Wayne’s attack.

A Resume Built on Winning

Cooper has won at nearly every level. He hoisted the Kelly Cup with Fort Wayne in 2021, captured a QMJHL Championship earlier in his junior career, and earned both a USports (AUS) Championship and two University Cup titles during his time with the University of New Brunswick. That kind of pedigree aligns perfectly with the Everblades’ identity—built around toughness, leadership, and playoff success.

A Strong Fit for Florida’s Identity

Now, Florida continues to build around players who bring size, postseason experience, and a team-first mentality. Cooper checks every box. His ability to win faceoffs, finish in tight, and grind down opponents adds another layer to the Everblades’ already deep forward group.

Looking Ahead

The Florida Everblades begin their 2025–26 campaign on the road against the Orlando Solar Bears on Friday, October 17th. Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM EDT.
