ECHL: Orlando Sings Alexandre Fortin

Today, the Orlando Solar Bears signed Alexandre Fortin for the 2023-24 season. This will be Fortin’s seventh year playing professional hockey. Fortin has played 275 professional games, 24 of those in the National Hockey League (NHL) skating for the Chicago Blackhawks, where he scored six points (3g-3a).

During the 2022-23 season, Fortin played one game for the Hershey Bears before being assigned to the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays. In South Carolina, he played 37 games, scoring an impressive 33 points (14g-19a) with 20 penalty minutes. Fortin has played 12 games for the Trois-Rivieres Lions, where he scored 13 points (7g-6a). The 6-foot-1 forward played six seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL), gaining 62 points (22g-40a). During those six years, he played for Rockford, Laval, Colorado, and, most recently, Hershey.

Fortin was drafted in the second round of the 2013 QMJHL draft by the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. While he was with the Huskies, the team won their first Presidents Cup during the 2015-16 season. Fortin is the nephew of former NHL goaltender Jean-Sébastien Giguère, who played for the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
