ECHL: Orlando Solar Bears Name Aaron Luchuk Captain

Orlando Solar Bears

Since our captain from the 2022-23 season, Ross Olsson, retired from hockey, the Orlando Solar Bears have chosen a new captain and alternates who will be wearing the C and A this season. Aaron Luchuk, who has played three seasons (103 games) with the team, was named the Orlando Solar Bears captain. Luchuk led the ECHL in scoring during the 2020-21 season with 28 goals and 46 assists, giving him 74 points. Wearing the ‘A’ will be defenseman Jimmy Mazza and forward Brayden Low. Jimmy Mazza is from Kings Park, New York, where he played collegiate hockey for Canisius College. Mazza played 72 games for the Solar Bears during the 2022-23 season, scoring four goals and 13 assists. New to the Orlando Solar Bears team is forward Brayden Low, who has played 298 ECHL games between the Rapid City Rush, Quad City Mallards, Wichita Thunder, and Reading Royals. Low wore an “A” during the 2014-15 season with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League. Tyler Bird will also be wearing an “A” for Orlando as he’s entering his fifth season with the Solar Bears, where he has put up 55 goals and 52 assists for 107 points in 217 games with the Solar Bears.
