The Greenville Swamp Rabbits continued shaping their roster by locking down the crease. The club re-signed goaltender Pierce Charleson for the 2025–26 ECHL season, securing him for his first full professional campaign.

Early Professional Impressions

Charleson arrived in Greenville late last spring after finishing his NCAA career and quickly showed he could compete at the pro level. He earned the team a point in his debut on March 15 against the Kansas City Mavericks, stopping 21 shots in a tight overtime loss. Less than two weeks later, he grabbed his first professional win at home, turning aside 31 shots to beat the Atlanta Gladiators.

The 6’3” netminder appeared in eight games, posting a 2-4-1-0 record with a 3.12 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage. In five of those outings, he limited opponents to three goals or fewer. That consistency gave Greenville a steady chance to compete while he adapted to the pro pace.

From College to the Pros

Before turning pro, Charleson built a strong résumé across five NCAA seasons. He finished his college career at Niagara University with an 18-13-3 record, 2.76 GAA, and .921 save percentage, including two shutouts. Earlier stops at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and Michigan State University provided valuable experience against high-level competition.

His foundation started even earlier with the Brooks Bandits of the AJHL. In 2019, he backstopped the team to league and national championships while earning Top Team Goaltender honors with an astounding 42-2-0 record. That championship pedigree continues to shape his approach in the crease.

Confidence in the Crease

Charleson enters the season intent on proving he can be relied upon night after night. He explained that his “goal this season is to prove I can play at this level and be relied upon to earn a win every night my number is called” (Greenville Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

Head Coach and General Manager Chad Costello echoed that confidence. He noted that Charleson is “a goalie who can make big saves in key moments of a hockey game and that gives the team a chance to win every night he is in net” (Greenville Swamp Rabbits, 2025).

What It Means for Greenville

The re-signing makes Charleson the first goaltender and 15th player named to Greenville’s roster. He joins a lineup that already features returning defensemen and forwards, adding another key piece to the puzzle as training camp approaches.

With his size, experience, and proven ability to adapt quickly, Charleson strengthens Greenville’s backbone in net. If he continues to build on his early showings, he could emerge as a crucial piece for the Swamp Rabbits’ roster as we head into the season.
