Utah Grizzlies defenseman Quinn Wichers is heading overseas to the UK to join the Nottingham Panthers of the EIHL after spending his first three years pro in North America. Wichers began his pro career in the ECHL with the Rapid City Rush, where he spent his first two years putting up three goals and 17 assists as a member of the Rush. He would add four assists while playing in 11 games during the 2022 Kelly Cup Playoffs. The Metcalfe, Ontario native would put up two goals and 14 assists for 16 points in 52 games as a member of the Grizzlies. Wichers is the second defenseman and fifth player from Utah to go overseas since the season ended, joining Brett Stapley, Brandon Cutler, Josh Wesley, and Adam Berg.
Prior to going pro, the 6’4, 216lb defenseman played four years in the NCAA with Mercyhurst University, scoring one goal and eight assists for nine points in 118 games. He would wear a letter for the Lakers in his final two years, including being the captain during the 2019-20 season. The Lakers were the AHA regular-season champions in 2018.
