ECHL: Rapid City Rush Add Chad Costello to Coaching Staff

Allen Americans/ECHL

The Rapid City Rush have announced that Chad Costello has been hired as the associate coach for the Rush.

Costello is joining the Rush as the Associate Coach after Rush Head Coach Scott Burt took a leave of absence for medical reasons. Costello is joining Assistant Coach, now Acting Head Coach, Peter Drikos, on the Rush coaching staff.

Costello joins the Rush after serving as the General Manager and Head Coach of the Allen Americans for the last two seasons before being fired in May by the Americans. In those two seasons, Costello led the Americans to a 70-67-5-2 regular-season record, a 6-9-1-0 playoff record, and an overall record of 76-76-6-2.

Costello is no stranger to Rapid City’s arena, having both played and coached in the arena. But this will be his first time being on Rapid City’s side of the ice. In Costello’s 25 games in Rapid City, he has a record of 17-8-0-0, going 4-2-0-0 as a coach and 13-6-0-0 as a player.

After many opposing successes in Rapid City, Costello will be looking to help Peter Drikos bring that success to the Rush, both at home and on the road.

Costello will join Peter Drikos and the Rush in Rapid City this weekend for their game against the Wichita Thunder.

After facing off Thursday night, the Rush and Wichita Thunder will be back in action Friday night at 7:05 pm MT. They will wrap up their series on Saturday with Teddy Bear Toss night at 4:05 pm MT.
