The Rapid City Rush have announced that they have signed 6’1″ forward Jared Westcott for the 2025-26 season. Rapid City now has seven forwards and 12 players signed for the 2025-26 season.
Junior and Collegiate Career
Jared Westcott started his junior career in the NAHL with the Lone Star Brahmas, where he registered one assist in three games played. Westcott then joined the Sioux Falls Stampede in the USHL, where he spent the final two seasons of his junior career, serving as an alternate captain in his final season. In 98 games with the Stampede, Westcott registered 31 goals and 42 assists for 73 points.
Westcott then started his collegiate career playing Division I hockey at Penn State. He then entered the transfer portal and landed a spot at Lake Superior State University, where he finished his collegiate career. Throughout his collegiate career, Westcott played in 91 games, where he had 25 goals and 30 assists for 55 points. In the 2023-24 season, Westcott was a Hobey Baker Nominee and was named to the CCHA First All-Star Team.
Professional Career
After completing his collegiate career, Westcott signed in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers to finish his 2023-24 season. He then started the 2024-25 season with the Nailers but was traded to the Bloomington Bison in November. In January, Westcott was traded to the Orlando Solar Bears before being traded to the Allen Americans three days later. In 62 ECHL games played, Westcott has 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points. With the Americans, Westcott played in 28 games where he had six goals and six assists for 12 points.
“I am super pumped to be signing with the Rush for the 2025-26 season,” said Westcott. “I’m very excited to be joining such a great organization, coaching staff, support system of fans and my soon-to-be teammates. I’ve had great conversations with Coach Smith, and I’m looking forward to his playing style. My fiancée Skyler and our dogs Deuce and Mac are thrilled to explore and learn about all the great things to do in and around Rapid City!”

Jared Westcott should be a good forward for the Rush. Westcott adds some size to the Rush, along with a lot of speed. He is able to get up and down the ice quickly and is not afraid to crash the net to get the gritty goals. It may take some time for Westcott to settle in as he is coming off of his first full season of professional hockey. But once he settles in with the team, Westcott could be a highly skilled forward with a lot of offense.
