ECHL: Rapid City Rush Announce 2024-25 Season Opening Roster and Leadership Group

The Rapid City Rush have announced who is on their season opening roster for the 2024-25 season along with their leadership group for the season.

Rapid City’s season opening roster consists of 25 players, including 14 forwards, eight defensemen and three goaltenders.

Leadership Group

Additionally, the Rapid City Rush have announced that forward Ryan Wagner will be the Captain this season and defenseman Charles Martin and forward Brett Davis will be the Alternate Captains.

The 2024-25 season will be Ryan Wagner’s first season with the Rush, although he has a lot of experience in professional hockey. Wagner spent the 2023-24 season in the AHL with the Chicago Wolves and played in 63 games. He scored three goals and seven assists for ten points. He had 28 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -20. In his 296 AHL games, Wagner had 34 goals and 48 assists for 82 points with 124 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -7. Wagner does not have a lot of ECHL experience, but in 23 ECHL games, he had nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points. He had 12 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -1. Wagner was an alternate captain in his senior collegiate season at the University of Wisconsin as well as from 2020-23 with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL. The 2024-25 season will be Wagner’s eighth professional season and second season in the ECHL.

Brett Davis joined the Rush late in the 2023-24 season. In 17 games with the Rush, Davis had three goals and nine assists for 12 points. He had ten penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -5. Davis has some experience in a leadership role from back when he was in the WHL. He was an alternate captain in the 2018-19 season with the Kootenay Ice as well as the 2019-20 season with the Red Deer Rebels. The 2024-25 season will be Davis’ first full season with the Rush and second season of professional hockey.

The 2024-25 season will be Charles Martin’s third season with the Rush and third professional season. Martin played in 42 games with the Rush in the 2023-24 season where he had three goals and 21 assists for 24 points. He had 22 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +5. In his 61 ECHL games played, Martin has four goals and 29 assists for 33 points with 32 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +9. The 2024-25 season will be Martin’s first season wearing a letter for a team. Martin is also on a two-way contract with the Calgary Wranglers for the 2024-25 season.

Forwards Maurizio Colella and Mason McCarty along with defenseman Zack Hoffman may also wear an ‘A’ at some point during the season.
