Prior to Friday night’s game, the Rapid City Rush announced that goaltender Matt Radomsky is the recipient of this year’s Blaine Jarvis Heart and Soul Award.
The Blaine Jarvis Heart and Soul Award is a team award given out by the Rush to one of their players who best exemplifies the qualities of former Rush forward Blaine Jarvis, who passed away in 2016. These qualities include both on- and off-ice commitment to the game, determination, excellence in the community, excellence in the locker room, perseverance, professionalism, and work ethic.
Rapid City’s previous winners include goaltender Danny Battochio (2015–16), defenseman Riley Weselowski (2016–17), defenseman Josh Elmes (2017–18), forward Cedric Montminy (2018–19), forward Tyler Coulter (2019–20), forward Logan Nelson (2021–22), goaltender Adam Carlson (2022–23), and forward Garrett Klotz (2023–24).
On the ice, Radomsky has been responsible for 13 of Rapid City’s 31 wins—the most by any Rush goaltender this season. He has played in the most games for Rapid City this season, appearing in nearly half of their contests with 33 games under his belt. Radomsky played a huge role in Rapid City’s 11-game win streak earlier in the season, earning six wins with a goals-against average of 2.67 and a .900 save percentage during that stretch. He also recorded one shutout and delivered a 50-save performance to help the Rush reach that 11-game milestone.
Off the ice, Radomsky has committed over 35 hours to community service. He was one of Rapid City’s players who was consistently present at team events and appearances. Whether it was a full-team event like Tip-a-Player Night or a smaller appearance like showing up to a mites practice, if the team was in town, Radomsky was there.
Radomsky is a major team player both on and off the ice, showing up for his teammates every day. Whether it’s making a big or timely save or getting into the occasional goalie fight, Radomsky’s commitment and passion for his team do not go unnoticed.
