ECHL: Rapid City Rush Forward Signs in Sweden for the 2024-25 Season

Rapid City Rush forward Jake Stella has signed to play with the Tingsryds AIF based in Tingsryd, Sweden of HockeyAllsvenskan.

American Career

After growing up in Sweden, Jake Stella moved to the US for the 2017-18 season to play for the South Shore Kings in the National Collegiate Development Conference. Stella played in 49 games with the Kings, where he had ten goals and 20 assists for 30 points with 45 penalty minutes. He played in the playoff games with the Kings, where he had one goal and four assists for five points.

Stella then joined the Corpus Christi IceRays for the 2018-19 season in the North American Hockey League. He played in 60 games, scoring 21 goals and 17 assists for 38 points. He had 40 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of 0. He played in five playoff games with the IceRays, scoring four assists for four points. Stella then went on to start his collegiate career in the NCAA.

Collegiate Career

Jake Stella started his collegiate career playing Division I hockey at American International College (AIC) in the 2019-20 season. Stella spent three years at AIC playing in 81 games where he had 13 goals and 26 assists for 39 points. He had 22 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of +10. Stella then transferred to UMass-Lowell, where he spent the final two seasons of his collegiate career. He played in 65 games at UMass-Lowell, where he had seven goals and 15 assists for 22 points. He had 16 penalty minutes and a plus/minus of -16. After finishing his collegiate career, Stella signed with the Rapid City Rush in the ECHL.

Professional Career

Jake Stella signed with the Rapid City Rush towards the end of the 2023-24 season after completing his collegiate season. He played in 11 games with the Rush where he had two goals and one assist for three points.
