The Rapid City Rush have announced that Assistant Coach Peter Drikos has been promoted to associate coach.

Drikos has spent the past two seasons in Rapid City, where he has served as the assistant coach of the Rush. Prior to the Rush, Drikos coached in the OJHL and GOJHL.

After completing his playing career, Drikos started his coaching career with the Toronto Patriots in the OJHL, serving as the assistant coach for the 2015-16 season. After one season with the Patriots, Drikos then became the assistant coach of the Orangeville Flyers, spending one season with the Flyers.

After two seasons as an assistant coach in the OJHL, Drikos went to the GOJHL, where he served as the head coach of the Brampton Bombers. Drikos spent two seasons with the Bombers, making the playoffs in both seasons. Drikos and the Bombers playoff runs ended in the conference quarterfinals both seasons.

In the 2019-20 season, Drikos went back to the OJHL, joining the Milton Menace as an assistant coach. After one season with the Menace, Drikos went back to the Toronto Patriots, accepting the head coach position for the 2020-21 season.

The 2020-21 OJHL season ended up not being played due to COVID-19, but Drikos returned to the Patriots for the 2021-22 season, serving as both the head coach and general manager. Drikos was able to lead his team to the playoffs, but the team saw their season end in the Conference Quarterfinals.

Drikos spent his final season of coaching in the OJHL with the Cobourg Cougars, serving as their head coach and general manager. Once again, Drikos led his team to a playoff appearance, but saw the season end in the conference quarterfinals.

The 2025-26 season will be Drikos’ third season with the Rush.
