The Rapid City Rush have announced that they have re-signed 6’0″ defenseman Billy Constantinou for the 2025-26 season.

Junior Career

Billy Constantinou began his junior career in the 2016-17 season, playing five games in the OJHL with the Aurora Tigers. He had two goals over the course of those five games. He then went to the OHL, where he spent four seasons splitting his time between the Niagara IceDogs, Kingston Frontenacs, and Soo Greyhounds. In 171 OHL games, Constantinou registered 22 goals and 76 assists for 98 points. He would also see action in six OHL playoff games.

Professional Career

After completing his junior career, Constantinou started his professional career in the ECHL. In his four seasons, he has played for the Iowa Heartlanders, Atlanta Gladiators, Wichita Thunder, Norfolk Admirals, Cincinnati Cyclones, Maine Mariners, and Rapid City Rush. In 238 ECHL games, Constantinou has 31 goals and 94 assists for 125 points. During his time with the Rush, he’s played in 95 games, putting up 17 goals and 35 assists for 52 points. In 71 games with the Rush in the 2024-25 season, Constantinou had 15 goals and 25 assists for 40 points. He led Rapid City’s defensemen in goals, assists, and points. It was also a career year for the Scarborough, Ontario native.

“I am beyond excited to be back in Rapid City,” said Constantinou. “Looking forward to working with Coach Smith and Coach Drikos, as well as the rest of the staff and players to bring a Kelly Cup to Rapid City.”

While Billy Constantinou struggled to stay in one place at the start of his career, he has really found himself a spot in Rapid City. Since joining the Rush, Constantinou has started to find his offensive power, whether it’s getting a shot on net so a teammate can pick up his rebound or taking a shot to score himself. On defense, Constantinou has been one of Rapid City’s most reliable defenseman. He’s always giving 100% and leaving it all on the ice. Constantinou is not afraid to play in the corners and is able to force turnovers for his team, helping his team move up the ice and sometimes gain odd-man rushes.
