ECHL: Reading Royals Bring Back Nick Carabin

The Reading Royals have re-signed defenseman Nick Carabin for the 2025-26 season. Carabin would pick up an assist in his only regular-season game with Reading last season. The 25-year-old defenseman also played in three games during the Kelly Cup Playoffs, but couldn’t find the scoresheet. He is the third player and first defenseman to sign with the Royals for the 2025-26 season. Forwards Connor McMenamin and Kyle Haskins have already signed for next season. Carabin will look to establish his role in Reading heading into next season.

Carabin would then play four years at the NCAA level. He spent his three seasons at Princeton, where he had six goals and 23 assists for 29 points in 80 games. During his last season with the Tigers, he wore an “A” on his jersey. He would be named to the NCAA All-Ivy League First Team in 2024 after putting up five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 27 games. He also led all Tigers defenders in goals during the 2023-24 season. Carabin spent his final year of eligibility at UConn, where he had three goals and six assists for nine points in 39 games. Carabin was tied amongst Huskie defenders for goals (3) during the 2023-24 season.

“Nick skates really well and has good poise with the puck,” stated Anthony Peters, Head Coach & General Manager. “He had a small taste last year and played meaningful games for the team, we look forward to see what he can come in and do this year.”

Prior to going pro, the Mawah, New Jersey native spent one season in the BCHL with the Coquitlam Express, where he had three goals and 24 assists for 27 points in 58 games. He would add a goal and an assist in four playoff games with the Express.
