Brooklyn Nets Star and Reading, PA native, Lonnie Walker IV, will be attending the Reading Royals game on March 1st, 2024.
Lonnie Walker is a graduate of Reading High School. He made his varsity debut as a high school Freshman and played 27 games. In that 27-game span, he averaged eight points per game. As a sophomore, he averaged nearly 17 points per game. In his junior year, Walker averaged a little over 17 points per game.
In Walker’s senior year at Reading Senior High School, he had a career-best of his high school days of nearly 18.5 points per game and moved ahead of former NBA player Donyell Marshall. Walker finished his high school career with 1,828 points scored. In 2017, Walker led Reading to their first state championship in 117 years with a 64-60 win over Pine-Richland Rams. Walker finished the championship with 22 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and 3 assists.
Reading Royals will be changing their name to the Reading Red Knights for one night only on March 1st when they face the Adirondack Thunder. This is in dedication to celebrating the Reading School District. In addition to changing their name, they will also be changing their colors to red and black for the school district. The Royals are currently in 7th place in the North Division at 17-20-4-2 and Adirondack is in 1st place in the North Division at 30-9-4-2.
