ECHL: Reading Royals: Defenseman Tony Malinowski Re-Signs

On July 8th, 2024, Reading Royals announced Defenseman Tony Malinowski re-signs with the club for his first full professional season.

Malinowski signed with Reading in after playing with Minnesota State University-Mankato for five seasons. During the course of the 2023-2024 season, Malinowski notched four points along with a +2 rating in the span of 13 games played for Mankato.

Malinowski has played in 77 NCAA career games and notched a total of two goals with 12 assists. In his freshman year in the 2019-2020 season, Malinowski was teammates with former Royals Forward Charlie Gerard at Minnesota State University-Mankato. Malinowski took part in the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 Frozen Four Championship runs. He assisted in the NCAA National Championship appearance against Denver when they became runner up for the title.

“Tony came in and played well with a lot of minutes because of game situations at the end of the season. He showed that he is reliable, can play and can compete at this level. He needs to come in here, be a presence, use his size and be a solid defender for us every game he plays.”
