ECHL: Reading Royals: Former Adirondack Forward Signs With Reading

On August 16th, 2024, the Reading Royals announced they have signed former Adirondack Thunder Forward Travis Broughman. On July 31st, 2024, it was announced that the Royals acquired Broughman’s rights from Adirondack, along with netminder Vinnie Purpura for Tag Bertuzzi.

The Richmond, VA native is 27 years old and in his third full professional season. Broughman started playing professional hockey in the 2021-2022 season with the Roanoke Railyard Dawgs of the SPHL. In the span of eight games, he netted two goals and one assist.

In the 2022-2023 season, he started with Roanoke, playing in 19 games and tallying eight games with 14 assists. He earned a call-up to Adirondack and dressed for 48 games. He earned 12 goals with 21 assists that season. In the 2023-2024 season, Broughman re-signed with the Thunder. He played in 66 games and notched 14 goals with 13 assists.

“I am super thrilled to be joining the Reading Royals this upcoming season. I can’t wait for the building to be rocking on October 26th.”

  • Per Royals PR- Broughman on signing with the Royals

“Being against Travis the last two years, it’s nice to have him on our side. He brings size, strength, grit and scores a lot of his goals around the net, as well as a lot of important goals. He’s going to be physically offensive for us, hard to play against and fit into everything that we need. Hopefully every time we play Adirondack, he’s willing to make them regret their decision (to trade him).””

  • Per Royals PR- Head Coach and GM Jason Binkley on signing Broughman

Broughman has a tenacity to his game and that could be beneficial to Reading’s lineup this season.
