Reading Royals’ goaltender Nolan Maier has been returned to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms prior to their game against the Newfoundland Growlers.
So far this season, Maier has spent a total of 26 games, with Reading holding out a save percentage of .892. Maier has so far played in two games more than last season, where his save percentage was also the .892 as it is this season, but last year, his goals-against average was lower at 2.89 with this year’s at 3.34. Though his average has changed, the amount of goals he has faced has increased from last season to this season, with last year only having faced 68 goals, while this season, so far, he has faced a total of 86. His record for this season is currently standing at 8-12-3 with the Royals, his only game played in Lehigh Valley this season a win, generating a bit of hope for Phantoms’ fans as he makes his return.
Though Maier leaves the Royals before their big game against the Growlers, they’re currently still equipped with goaltender Anton Thornton who has played in one game so far with the Royals this season. The Royals move into this Saturday’s game looking for a win to gather two points by the end of the weekend to further their push to make it to playoffs before the end of the season catches them.
