ECHL: Reading Royals: Kenny Johnson Re-Signs For Second Season

The Reading Royals announced on July 8th, 2024 that Defenseman Kenny Johnson will be joining the Royals for his second professional season.

Hailing from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Johnson played in a total of 46 games in the 2023-2024 season. He notched one goal and 10 assists.

“I am excited to sign with the Royals again and get back to Reading. I am excited to chase that ultimate goal of a championship. The coaches and whole staff believe in me to bring me back for next year. Getting back on the ice is what I’m looking forward to and I can’t wait to see what we can do.”

Johnson played four years at NCAA Division One Penn State University prior to turning into professional hockey. In 40 games as a Nittany Lion, he tallied one goal and four assists. Johnson played for the BCHL with the Victoria Grizzlies in the 2018-2019 season. In the 2017-2018 season, Johnson was awarded Fan Favorite and Humanitarian awards with the Penticton Vee’s. Kenny is the younger brother of Stanley Cup Champion, Jack Johnson.

He’s a great teammate in the locker room and great person in the community who shows up for team events and youth hockey camps.
